As Product Owner at METRO digital, I turned an invisible design system into a measured product. Nightly usage data and cost-savings dashboards justified growing the team from 2 people to 7, and unique imports rose by up to 35% every six months.

AppOmni Design System

Eleven-month engagement leading the architecture of AppOmni's design system: a framework-agnostic component library built for risk dashboards and configuration tables, themable per surface without forking, tokens flowing from Figma, and a anatomy details (properties, slots, events, and CSS variables) aligned between designers and engineers.

Hands-on with Design Systems (2021)

A remote workshop for designers and developers for learning and practicing design systems, working in a team. During this workshop, the participants got hands-on experience with basic design processes while creating and maintaining their own design system.

Elisa Design System Renewal

Renewal of the design system at Elisa took place in the years 2020 and 2021. The the project included complete re-design and re-coding of 35 components and solid foundational work in design, development, infrastructure, and community managing areas.

Workshop at React Finland 2020

A remote workshop on the design, managerial, and communication aspects of design systems. During this workshop, the participants got hands-on experience with basic design processes while creating and maintaining their own design system.

Business Finland Design System

A short-term but fun project that included co-creation sessions with Business Finland designers and managers during which the shared understanding of design systems was gained and followed by mastering a set of accessible components.

Elisa design system (2017-2018)

Design system for top telecommunication and digital company in Finland. The project raised a lot of managerial, technical, and community building challenges. Elisa's design system was successfully built and maintained for internal use and generated significant business impact.

Workshop “Hands on with a design system”

A full-day workshop about building a design system and a pattern library in a multidisciplinary team. In just one day, 6 multidisciplinary teams were lead through the process of UI inventory, setting up a component library, building a product with it, and complete re-design.

Huhtamaki project

This project was done during my master’s degree at Aalto, for the IDBM program’s Industry Project course. The clients, Huhtamaki, are global food packaging specialists, and were looking to enter the home delivery packaging space. However, this was a new space for them, so they needed our team to help them understand the home delivery space in order to produce an optimal packaging solution to maintain their strong position in the packaging domain.

BEM project

Legendary BEM methodology, component, and tools developed at Yandex back in 2008. I worked leading a team of five in tight collaboration with 2 other teams creating components, documentation, and supporting dozens of frontend developers. Popularising BEM, especially abroad, was another huge aspect. I managed to tear down the iron curtain.

Lego UI component library

“Lego” is Yandex’s core UI framework built on BEM methodology. Led by a frontend team lead, the project delivered 150+ reusable components integrated into 80+ Yandex services. It established scalable frontend architecture, standardized development practices, introduced open-source initiatives, and influenced company-wide engineering standards.
